Re: Johnny house complete

Another solution is to put a snow fence around the JH. This keeps the larger preditors away from the actual house and also helps keep the dogs away from the house. Let the grass grow inside the fense.

Re: Terms we use

DogNewbie,
It is not unusual for a term to have multiple meanings. Just look in any of the dictionaries. Just list the agreed to definitions for a term and move on. Your example is spot on for multiple meanings for that term.

I think the project is doable and worthwhile.

Bill, This is a BIG and beautiful country. You need to get out more. There is still a lot of big and different texture country you have yet to see. You and your dogs need to be exposed to them all. You are young and have time to do it. You may change some of the things you do in training back East. ...

Have a friend who uses them to steady his broke dog for hunt test or field trials. He will plant the bird and let the dog go on point. He then gets bird to walk away of do one of its poor flight. He then blanks the bird and heels the dog off. After putting dog away he goes back and picks up the bird...

Bruce, I did not mean to imply that the gallery was overly raucous. However, that said there is an additional background noise associated with 40 – 50 people riding horses and talking. Some European hunters would disagree. For proper aged bird they would hang by neck or lower beak, dead bird, guts and all until lower beak or head came off. Even aged beef is a controlled version of meat rotting.

I would pluck grouse and phesants when I was not as old as I am now. Get a pail of hot water. Dunk the bird into the hot water. Everyone has pretty much said it all. Puppy stakes are natural ability stakes. It is all about the puppy and not the handler. As far as chukars and pheasant go treat them just like the chicken you buy from the store. That is if you purchase skinless chicken, then take the shin off the birds. If you buy fillets then filet the birds. etc. etc. etc. The other source of flavor is a result of how you process the birds. I prefer...
