It sounds to me like your training program is a big cluster. You need to pick one method and follow it thru from beginning to end. Mixing and matching methods causes confusion and having 2 different people do 2 different things is also adding to the confusion. Go visit the trainer and see exactly ho...

I think you have a very smart dog on your hands. She's figured out how close she can get on woodcock and with grouse she knows she can't get to close or she will bump them so she's stopping as soon as she hits scent. She's not staunch because she's not got enough scent but she's smart enough to know...

The most important thing is DO NOT take them to shoot skeet. If it worked in the past then you were lucky. Gun shyness is man made.

I understand your point and it's a valid one, however, by taking an ecollar off a dog, then putting it back on, a collar wise dog will be made. My dog's are NEVER run without a collar. I consider it the greatest safety device available for a hunting dog to man. It doesn't matter if the collar is th...

You can put in the work to steady him right now and forgo a lot of hunting season and then have to connect the pigeon training to wild birds or you can let him learn to hunt and find wild birds and finish him after hunting season. The dog has already been allowed to chase birds so that behavior is a...

Wild birds. Let him hunt then break him this spring/summer. You don't want to start training and not finish it, this will confuse you dog, AND you wouldn't have time to finish before hunting season. Only shoot pointed birds.

I always have the ecollar on the dog. Just because it's on doesn't mean you have to use it. The quickest way to get a dog collar wise is to take it off and on. My dogs love the ecollar, when I have an ecollar in my hand they know they are getting ready to have some fun. I put it on them as soon as t...

Picked the dog you like the looks of then study the bloodlines. You can find smaller dogs in the shorthair world you just have to take time to study the different lines. Where do you live, climate may make a difference in breed.

you have an 8 month old puppy she's not probably not ready to break. Her time needs to be spent learning to hunt and find birds. If you did your homework and bought a pup from a good breeding then she will start pointing wild birds on her own.

If the dog will recall to you, then I would take the leash or checkcord off and let him run. The dog looks like he doesn't have much desire.
