I got 2 dogtra quail and pigeon launcher from a trainer.(very Used) One receiver failed. I sent it to dogtra on a Tuesday and had it back fixed the next Wednesday. That I quick service. Dont remember what needed fixed but it was in the electronics. $50.00 Also a very fair price for service.

For western quail hunting a big running dog with a Garmin will get you a lot of birds. If trained properly you can make them hunt at 30 yards in front of you for pheasants.

I would put a NSTRA champion up against any AKC dog out there as a hunting dog indicator. Almost everyone in my NSTRA group got into it to extend their hunting season. had a gsp that ate the front 2x4 door post away. It was sheeted wit 1/2 inch plywood and filled with fiberglass insulation. Stacked a bunch of green elm tree pruned branches up against the chain link. he switched to chewing on that. He had to drag the branches through the chain link.

Lots of luck on that one. I went a full year with one calamity after another Hawks, bull snakes, rats eating their legs off. you name it. Finally get good bunch of breeders and don't have a pup to train with them.

Last year bragging about walking full speed for 2 hours. Well now at 80 my right hip socket is worn out. NSTRA does take care of us old veterans. The only cut pad I ever had to deal with my vet said it couldn't be sutured. It was quite deep and on a very strong GSP that my vet knew well. He said kennel him for 8 weeks.

Lots of coveys around Winchester ca but brush is so thick it is hard to get through. This country has lots of openings to work around the brush. I do have to start hoofing it to get in better shape also for the season. I use a quad to scout but hunt on foot.

Quail that live in a normally windy area stick hard when the wind blows. My dog doesn't know how to hunt unless the wind is 20mph. 300 wind generators within the sight of my home.

late to this conversation, but did I sense that you may be hunting ducks in the mid Atlantic states? If so, a Brittany has a pretty light coat. That may be why your Orvis search came up with Brittanys at #11.

Sons GSP with a 6 inch tail missed when jumping up on tailgate. Crashed down on his butt and tail. Now at about 2 inch from his anus it bends down at about 60 degrees. He straightens it out when pooping. Any experience with broken tails ?

Good news. She ran in 4 NSTRA trials this weekend. She was not going full speed for the entire trial because it was to hot, but no sign of a limp.

I had my dog in a NSTRA trial this weekend. She came to an area and her ears went back and she let me know there was a rattler there by her actions. I told the judge and he let me know a snake was killed there an hour earlier. Nice to know your dog is that snake broke.

Nice pics. I recognize several spots. 20-21 season was a bumper crop year at my home. We were finding just feathered chicks on opening weekend. Hit 2 coveys of over 100 on the last day of the season. next year in my area is going to be zero birds. Only 2 half inch rains since 10-20.

Bad hatch for Mearns last year. Monsoon rains didn't develop. I found about 50,000 acres of hunt able BLM ground near Sonita in one day. Cattle water tanks every 1/2 mile or so on the ridges, BUT those oak filled canyons are straight up and down and deep. Makes chucker hunting look easy.
