I do think its sort of ironic that we go through all this trouble with our intentional breedings and there are strays having litters of 10-12 puppies under a deck somewhere with absolutely no assistance...

Re: Breeding Performance Bitches
My thought is that this has less to do with the fact that they are performance bitches and more to do with the fact that often times we spend most of their early more fertile years training, campaigning, and conditioning them for their intended venues. It certainly seems as though many people come a...

A question was raised in the dogs for sale page and I thought I'd pose it here.
"Do the top end FT folks find that these high performing bitches have a tougher time getting pregnant and whelping litters?"

I've heard of Scribner down there by Lamine also. Buddy of mine has been running down there and says he's hearing birds and seeing pairs. Probably not great that birds are still in pairs, might mean that they weren't able to get off a hatch. It's starting to get late for a hatch now and it is still ...

I saw the ones on Lion Country Supply and thought about replacing mine. The old Innotec one picks and chooses when it wants to work, also busted the tail off - oops. Figure it helps my dogs learn to back French Brits

I don't think it is a secret society, but its just like everything else out there. You are going to pay for it one way or another. Either dollars out of your pocket for the trainer to do it... or time, blood, sweat and tears to do it yourself. I have done a couple of summer camps, one to condition a...

On some of the public ground we hunt in IA and SD there were requirements to use no-tox. We bought hevishot #6, 3", 20 ga and had good luck on pointed pheasants. The next year we were only able to find #4, 2 3/4", 12ga. I couldn't tell that much difference and the birds kept hitting the ground.

I agree, spend a little more on the front end and buy tritronics. Or, buy 4 or 5 different collars and then end up with a tri-tronics after the others quit on you.

Usually use treats only for puppies, and even then sparingly. But I buy some liver flavored treats called "Bil-Jac". They come in a purple paper milk carton pkg and the pups seem to enjoy them.

You might have to do some more training later, but as long as you do not do something drastic, dogs are very forgiving. This is very true. Depending on your end goal with the dog it will probably work out to be a non-issue. If you plan to train for MH or adult field trial stakes then you'll need to...
