Re: Who has the right to name the dog?
The first owner of the pup is the breeder...who has a right to name it if he/she wishes. If you have picked a name, and that is more important than getting a dog from that breeder, go somewhere else. I spend the money to buy a pup, pay the vet bills, do the training, pay for HD certification, testi...

Sharon, Your ear rocks could be loose. I know this sounds like a joke, but I'm totally serious. I had this diagnosed with me by an ENT about 5 years ago and after going through his little head turning treatment and 12 hours of rest, I was fine. Been around hog hunters and hunted/trapped hogs for 40 years, never seen anyone use a bird dog, BnT's, plotts, curs, pits, etc. but no pointers, I'm sure there is a reason for it. I don't hogdog because I don't like stitching up and burying dogs, but to each his own. I do run deer with dogs and have...

You dont find many real hog finding dogs around baypens. IMO that is the problem with many curs is that they have been bred for baypen performance. As far as me being to cheap to buy a good dog did you see any where that I have asked to have anything given to me, No you havent. I Would love for you...

I lost my 2 year old EP today. Gump was a Fibber/Lancelot cross. He was easy to train, biddable, and birdy, extremely birdy. I don't think it's apples and oranges. I think it's more like Fuji Apples and Gala Apples. Given, humidity has a lot to do with it, but hot is hot. If someone says it was 110' you don't stop to ask "was it humid?" before saying, "Man, that's hot!" Not saying 100' isn't hot, but it's so hot that you...

We run deer with dogs, beagles and walkers or crosses of the two. I'll probabaly do the free running, I've got some lead core line about the same weight and size of welding cable to affix to the harness. Might even follow on the bike as I could use some road work too.

There is no way I would even think about attaching a roading setup to a street legal motor vehicle unless it was far out to one side and absolutely impossible for the dog to get dragged under a wheel.
