Re: 40 + flushes
i am another hour north of that. Going to the brule area on wednesday. i have off this whole week, so i am going to be hitting it hard. I will probably not have another day like that up here, i don't think the woodcock will be sticking around too much more. we had snow on the ground this morning.

40 + flushes
I recently bought a house so i have been tied up for the last 3 weeks. The dogs were driving everyone nutz. I took them out on Sat from about 10 to 3. I had a great time. Flushed 40 or so birds. Woodcock were everywhere. I was afraid i would be too late, but they are still up north in wisconsin. Als...

I am hunting then together and i think that may be one of the biggest problems. They both are steady to flush on pigeons from the coop. Probably 8/10 9/10. But i realize that is not "hunting" just a simulation. For now i will follow the directions from RayG. And I will only hunt 1 dog at a time for ...

What to do after dog busted birds
So far i am the proud owner of a German shorthair flusher and German wirehaired flusher. Once in a while they will get it right, about 3 out of 10 they will point. My question is what to do with the dog after it bumps a bird; and you know they smelled it and ran in and flushed it, not and accidental...

Why not go in there yourself and show her where you want her to go. Teach her a command like " hunt em up" and cast her into the spot you want here to hunt. It will take an amount of time and birds to get the dog to realize that the birds are not on the road. You could setup a launcher in the brush,...

we went on Sat morning only for about 4 hours. 3 guys 4 dogs. Lots of leaves.
Flushed probably 12-14 wookcocks, and more than a dozen grouse. had a couple of little points, but most birds were bumped.

Re: Bells and Beepers When Hunting
What about a beeper in silent (point only) mode. Keep the collar on all the time then.
Plus
On most beeper collars you can always hit a locate button and find the dog.
That is how i run my dogs up here in wisconsin. But the beepers never go off here because we have no birds.

I agree with letting a young dog, 7-12 weeks play with a live bird. It think it helps them become more bold and realize that they have power of the birds, and also prevent bird shyness.

I had a dog with E and also used the same drug. I would keep a detailed journal like stated above. Also if you haven't already figured it out, the meds are alot cheaper online than at the vet.
If seizures continue, obviously talk to your vet, and they will probably up the meds a tad.
