Didn't bother my dogs one bit, they stood through it. I'd rathe get a point, I be the one that flushes and not use that time to train someone else's dog. I believe roanies dogs are fine and he wants to be the one to flush and shoot. I proof my dogs, not their fault, they stand and are honest.

How old is the pup, have you hunted it, how long does it stand before you flush, what do you do at the flush and the dog do, are you holding the checkcord or is it dragging it, did you do yard work, had the pup caught a bird on the ground prior?

Great post Ray. I like my dogs to have recall, stay to the front and stand for my flushing attempt by 12 months. I do a bit of hacking to keep them close for the first few birds, then they get it. If the pup is standing and I'm in his field of view that bird is going down. Thank the man for woodcock!

I have a friend that treats throughout the day and his goes quite a bit, how much do you feed in the evening? Do they all get the same exercise? if you over feed they go more often and it's looser. Same goes for my friend with a lot of treats.

Overlay the known commands to the e-collar. Begin with lowest stimulation possible until the dog responds to your reinforcing use of the e-collar to a known command.

I got my press off deseeker on this site for use with my .410 reloads. 3" 5/8 ounce of copper plated 8's doing 1275 puts a hurting on anything inside 30 yards. Anyway early season grouse and woodcock along with preserve hunts . Great for training, especially in thick timber.

Young dogs need to figure out how their nose works. If he is stoping on first scent no matter 20 yards or 2 feet you have a good thing. Pushing the dog back and saying back, leave it or simply no will work. I use "leave it" in place of no and back. no sounds like whoa . Be sure to instill this command physically every time in the befinning so the dog knows you mean business and soon you can correct from afar.

Two eggs at a time then when the chicks are around two weeks old they lay two more eggs in the nest box next door. Usually next month they do the same. Starting in march going through late september around 10 clutches.
