Try to tell my dog that a test isn't competition. It may be competition against the standard, but it's still competition for scores.

We don't hunt after trapping season starts. Just not willing to risk the dogs to a trap that could maim or kill the dog.

Back in the 60's dog mushing was a way of life with many people. Dogs got people from village to village, hauled freight, trapped, hauled firewood and water. Life didn't go on without a good dog team. Of course when you have man involved you must pit what you have against another to see just who has...

Re: A question for breeders about false pregnancy?
False pregnancy is not all that common and generally happens with dogs that haven't been bred, but think they are. It often takes longer for a dog to recover from false pregnancy than it would take to recover from raising pups. If your dog is prone to false pregnancy I would not breed her and get he...

We did that with our unused puppy pen. We put a roof on it and lined the inside with Chicken wire. The chain link keeps big critters out and the chicken wire keeps the birds in. However, make sure you fasten it firmly or you could have some hawk like visitors come to see what's for dinner.

If they are going that much, you might want to try a different dog food. Also, are you going directly from your house to hunt or are your dogs kenneled because you have to travel to the hunt spot.
