I have been running in NSTRA for 5 years in the Mo-Kan region. This venue is typically highly competitive, so you should be prepared for that. I love being part of the competition, utilizing my shooting skills and strategy. I have recently started competing at a national level, which brings a whole ...

Edit: Looks like some sort of automatic censoring is breaking the link. Here is a shortened URL that should work: http://bit.ly/1SnzAAt This could be an interesting watch for bird dog and field trial enthusiasts. Set to premier in October on the Hunt Channel and run through March. It looks like this...

Yes, that should be clarified that I placed in the first qualifying round and not overall. Although I wished I had gone farther I did not make it past the 2nd elimination round. I was beat 3-2 by Nathan Tekell and his very nice GSP 4x CH Tek's Bitsy Boo. Katie put on a great performance but the thir...

NSTRA Champion Ellie's Crazy Katie

Sunday afternoon Katie beat out an English Pointer who had himself won on Saturday, scoring 5 birds to his 2. The score held up over the last few braces and at the end of the day she had her final trial win needed to be certified a NSTRA Champion. This has been a long time coming, but I knew that sh...

I don't know why clubs don't get a group together and raise their own birds. Day old's are inexpensive compared to mature birds. I doubt it would cost anywhere near as much as someone else raising and then shipping them. Out here chukar's run about $9+ and Bob White $5+. the initial cost will be co...

Re: Johnny House Water System Help

I have seen pheasant raising setups where they hung the pipe with the nipples with chains and they adjusted the height as the birds grew but I don't know how high they actually were. That's how I do it in my chicken brooders and I just eyeball it compared to the chicks and raise it about inch or so...

Mine are about 7 inches from the ground. When I first put the chicks in there I stuck a piece of scrap wood under the nipples so they could have help reaching if they needed it until they were grown.

To respond back contents of the original post, you must also make a distinction between titles since there are Pointing Lab hunt tests and I'm sure they have someone to print those titles on their pedigrees. I bring this up because you stated you are interested in hunting upland game with your Lab, ...

I spent the day hunting public land in NW Missouri with a friend. 3 roosters seen, one shot, one bagged. Approximately 35 quail seen in 4 coveys, 6 shot, 5 bagged. One bonus swamp rabbit. I came across an area where I counted 20 pheasant roosts before I stopped counting. There are still decent bird ...

That's pretty much what we experienced. The birds are easily spooked and it was difficult even getting within a hundred yards of them before they'd flush. We saw tons of hens that would hold in big groups that all got up together. Managed to shoot a few that sat in the tree rows on the edges of corn...
