Re: Midnight Run to E-Vet for stitches--Photos

Your vet is going to be able to buy a new boat if you keep bringing your dog in for minor skin tears like that. The only time I get these stitched is during the hunting season when I need all of the dog power that I can get. Last year my old dog hit a fence post in an abandoned farm yard in North Da...

IMO, a weight distributing hitch would be the last thing that you would want for a trailer with a light tongue. A 35 gallon water tank in the front section would help a lot towards balancing the load.

If you can't move the gate forward, tie your horse at the front corner. When you get the front half set up with dog boxes, tack storage, and a water tank, it will help balance the load. The tongue weight should be 1/10 of the total weight of the trialer.

My dogs perform better when they have a little fat on them. They hunt harder, longer, and find more birds when they have enough fat to barely see their ribs. We can fit 4 walking horses in a 8x8 stock area if we alternate which side we tie them up. The last horse knows the routine, so he throws his shoulder and hip into the 3rd horse to make sure there is enough room for him.

I agree with Casper. Split the trip into two days of driving and find a motel or campground where you can stake the horses out for the night.
