Help with kennel
I am looking at buying some portable kennels and want everyones take on the price.
Chain link 10'w x 10'l x 6'h
$372.50
Mesh powder coated 10'w x 10'l x 6'h
$628.50
Is there any pros or cons to the powder coated?

Spend the money for length and not width. Chain link is good and make them 16 X4 idealy. Dogs get thewre exercise from running the length and 4 or 5 is more than adequate for width.
Your 10X10 could be 15X5 with the same amount of wire.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

I purchased a 6' X 10' X 6'H chain link kennel with gate kit from Home Depot for $161.10 SKU# 362-581
Couldn't find a cheaper kennel kit, it was easy to assemble.

Thanks Boomer I sent you a PM
Jon my Home Depot only has pre fabed panels and they were something like $130 for a 6 x 6 panel and a gated panel was like $50 more just entirely to much to spend when I could buy all the parts for a 1/3 the price and build it my self. I just need a temp till I can have the time to build a kennel on slab. Plus I am probably getting another puppy

The $161.10 is what I paid for the entire kit. It came in a box with everything. Assemble in 30 min.
The SKU # I gave was the Home Depot number I used when ordering it on 10/27/2005.
Good Luck

Jon, Thanks for the info, I wanted to make a larger dog run so that when I get another dog, a female, when she is in heat I can devide the kennel. I looked at home depot and all I saw was the prefab that they had out. Thanks for the info. :thumbright:

If you have the money I would say go with the Prefert or the powder river kennels. They are better built than the chain link. I have one from Prefert and it will hold anydog with a top on it. I also have 3 Chain link kennels in one of these kits discribed. OK kennels but I have dogs that get out. They pull on the links and pull hard enough that it starts to misform and they go through it. I think I paid 200 each at a feed store.
I have also made my own copying the prefet kennel. I used the gauged wire (I think Hog wire) and used 1/2 inch tubing to build the frams. It did save me alot of money but it sure took some time to weld it. Not to mention I am not much of a fabricator!
So if you are getting a new pup are you getting it out of Colorado?

there is a huge difference in the quality of kennel fabric, its longevity, price and other factors.
