My name is Jason, I usually live in Arlington, VA (although currently I'm in Kaneohe, HI until July). I've read many threads on various sites before deciding to join this site. I feel like the posts I've read here seemed the most informed.
I have a 15 month old GSP named Ripley. My wife and I purchased him from the great people at Want To Hunt kennel in PA. I've never hunted birds, only deer with rifle, but I want to start. Not to mention, I think it'll be fun to train him and let him do what he was bred to do. Currently he is my running partner, and we play fetch with a ball. He's very interested in prey (birds, cats, squirrels, lizards, etc), and he instinctively points to them rather than charging in full bore, most of the time. We've been working obedience with him since he was 10 weeks old, although it's a work in progress (the 2 days of travel to HI when he was 12 months old set him back a little). He's extremely focused. He gets so focused on some things that he doesn't even hear us, at least that's what I tell myself so I don't think he's ignoring me purposefully.
Hope to hear from you all, and perhaps even meet in the field on day.
