New From Northern Cali.

Post by Siskiyou Blues » Sun Apr 03, 2011 4:56 pm

Just wanted to say Hello,
Just got my first gun dog pup, a Gordon Setter, from Springset in OR.
Although I have spent a lot of time with dogs this will be my first time training any gun dog, much less a pointer.
Hopefully you all will be able to give me a hand.

Also a bit of a photobug, nice to have a venue to share puppy pictures.

Welcome and nice pics.

If your up near Hastings island they have some hunt tests and field.trials in the next few weeks. May also give you a chance to talk with some owners about pups and training them.

Thanks! I'm 4 hours north of Hastings (unfortunately), seems like I'm far away from everything.
I'm right by Mt Shasta btw, probably better off looking in Southern OR

Welcome, there are a few Gordon owners that frequent this forum, very few really. Gordons are fun dogs. The best you can do for your pup is to take it hunting and give him plenty of opportunity to learn. And get envolved with other bird dog people, and leave the shock collar at home, at least for a year.

I'm looking forward to hearing about your pup.
