Hello,
New to this forum and to gun dogs. I love bird hunting but have spent most of my field time after big game because I've never had a dog. At least not a dog that had a prayer. We rescued a Chocolate Lab from the pound once, years ago. She loved the water, loved to fetch but came to us horribly gun shy. A cap gun in the same house would send her scurrying for cover.
I'd always had my eye on the German Wire haired Pointer for versatility and low dander (I'm actually allergic to dogs but we handle it with a very clean home). My wife found a breeder in Utah who is a NAVHDA member/competitor and we are putting a deposit on a GWP female today. I'll be asking a lot of new puppy training questions. Thanks for having me and I look forward to my experience here.

That's awesome! Don't forget the Utah Bird Dogs forum either.
