A bit about me

Post by RedGirls » Wed Feb 06, 2008 2:57 pm

I am an "almost" 40 yr old female with a 4 yr old AKC CH female Vizsla. I had the pleasure of showing her until pregnancy interrupted and I had a friend put the last five points on her (and last major.) My husband is active military (as am I) and we have been married for 10 yrs. We have 22 mo old son who is the light of my life.

My Vizsla has 2 legs of her JH but we have run into a big speed bump - which I will post elsewhere. I have been around dogs all of my life and also own 2 Rat Terriers. I hope to bring my girl back around to finish her JH and perhaps go further.

ooops - sorry, I thought I posted this in the "a little bit about you" folder.

Thank you to all for the welcome! This is a very well managed and organized site. I am very impressed and what a great resource for sharing information and ideas.

Yes, my little Hungarian Pointer. Funny how people look at you when you say "I have a Vizsla" and then the dawning of recognition when you say, I have a Hungarian "Pointer." OH! a Pointer. :)

Welcome!!

Yes, I'm all too familiar with the exchange:

"What is that?"

"A Vizsla."

"A WHAT?"

That's how it goes for us.

"What kind of dog is that?"

"A Veesh La"

"A What Cha?"

" --mild chuckle-- Everybody says that"

When I describe Vizslas to others, I usually start with the whole Hungarian bird dog thing, but then, as their eyes glaze, I just say "He kinda looks like Santa's Little Helper from the Simpsons"---"Ohh, okay!"
