Hello everyone, Ken H here. I live near Alexandria MN and enjoy Fishing and hunting of all kinds, but most of all I am self employed carpenter and a serious hobby breeder of fine feild bred English Springer Spaniels, which I love to hunt with and run in AKC field trials as well.I also love the training with the dogs.

WELCOME to the forum! Great to have you here.

I have a question...this just came up yesterday. The Tri gene....every now and again we will see a tri colored Springer. In fact, just groomed one yesterday at work. How does the tri gene factor in to the English Springer genetics....you guys don't have "orange dogs" like.. say the Brits....
Where does that orange come from?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Looking forward to hearing all about your dogs and adventures and once again welcome to the board.

Near as I can find out the tri factor is from when before recognised ESS breeds. the spaniels, cockers ect. were all bred togeather. When the registry took over anything 28 lbs and over became a springer and under cockers. The collor from some of those has still found it's way to today. Mostly in show bred dogs. although some field bred dogs have the gene as well just not as many.
