Hi all, I am brand new to the GDF. I am just now at 56 making the shift from English Springer Spaniels to my first pointing dog, DeCoverly's Owl Feather. "Feather" is a sweet orange belton female who is just now starting serious field work. If there is anyone on this forum who lives in striking distance of Stewart State Forest in Orange County NY and has experience training a Setter or would like to stumble through learning with me I'd love to hear from you.

A little more about me: I started hunting with Springers in 1990 and raised a few litters and trained a few dogs. My "Dog of a Lifetime" Ruchar's Rolling Thunder, was my pride and joy. I campaigned him in ESS field trials for a few years and placed him with a great trainer handler for one season (1999) when he went to the Nationals. After that I hunted with him until he passed on at 14 years old. Loved all of my springers but I also like variety and longed for a different style of hunting (getting too old to keep up with a Flushing-Fetcher).

I am looking forward to learning and sharing here in the GDF.
