OVERHEATING

Post by bula » Fri Jul 18, 2014 11:53 am

Hi, I am new to this forum. I live in Idaho. I am not a hunter but I have a fabulous chocolate lab who is a great high drive retriever with all the qualities of a terrific hunting dog. She is also a great companion. She will end up doing search and rescue and agility, hiking and playing. My question has to do with overheating. I understand that these high drive dogs often heat up and she certainly does. Her temperature gets up 104-105. It does come back down within thirty minutes. Is this in the range of normal or something I should be concerned about? The vet here was concerned that she was hitting 103 but from what i gather on this forum and the web, this is not out of the norm for the breed. The day temps here in Idaho have been into the 80's. Thanks for any information, Marian
