Dennis,

Welcome to the forum. Tons of info on here. I hope you enjoy it and congrats on the new pup. We have 2 female GSPs that sleep with us when they want. They do what they are told so I don't believe letting them sleep in bed will affect their discipline. It's personal preference if you want the hair on the bed. All our house dogs (past and present) have slept where they wanted, they are just like part of the family. :)

Hello,

We are in the same boat and learning together. I've read all I can and like you, see conflicting advice often. Note the people who write them all have good dogs.

After making mistakes in the past, I now know that sleeping in a kennel is the way to go for the pup. That does not stop me from dozing with my pup and using it as a treat for her for doing well. Relaxing on the couch with with the pup has become one of my favorite pastimes. I just moderate it. Get a 'special' large bone (toy) that she gets only when alone in the crate. Too much freedom early on seems to cause problems.

Congrads on the new pup. Never had a problem with my dogs sleeping in my bed, but then I've never had the best trained dogs and I don't think that has anything to do with them sleeping on my bed. It has more to do with my training ability. :D :D
