New guy from South Mississippi

I am new to the forum, and I have a 5 month old Boykin Spaniel. I got him so I could have a duck hunting partner, but want to hunt dove, and quail also. I live in Mississippi, have three kids, and a great wife. I am in the U.S. Coast Guard. I have never trained a bird dog before but am ready for the challenge. I appreciate any help I can get. I’m not looking for a dog to do hunt tests with but want a well behaved, dog that will be a great partner in all my hunts.
