Introduce myself

Hello, I want to introduce myself. I live in Idaho and I love to bird hunt. I spent twenty years in the army with a few deployments to Iraq. I find bird hunting to be the most therapeutic thing in the world. I have owned labs for many years and mainly pheasant hunt with them. I put a deposit down on a English pointer pup. I am super excited to begin a new adventure with a pointer.

Welcome to the forum and the state. Good luck with the new dog. I live in the eastern part of the state and we mostly hunt huns, sharpies and forest grouse over here along with some put and take pheasants.

I agree 100% with the therapeutic aspect of birddogging, especially in the part of the west you get to enjoy. You picked the right kind of dog for the location. Welcome to the forum and thanks for your service. Some good folks here, new and old.

Thanks that would be fantastic. My 14 year old daughter is very excited about the pointer pup. She wants to help train it.

Is there a video training set that you would recommend that I follow when the new pup gets here? I know there are a number of different ones out there. I have never trained a pointer and I am very excited for the opportunity.

The book Training With Mo is a great place to start and it lays a very solid foundation.
