Re: New Section for Horse related topics?
Great idea Bruce. I bet a section on horses would attract a lot of readers. I searched the web a couple of months ago on ground tying.
Re: New Section for Horse related topics?
I would enjoy it and would probably learn a lot.
currently two shorthairs, four english pointers, one Brittany, one SPRINGER a chihuahua and a min pin lol
Re: New Section for Horse related topics?
I think it is a great idea. I think it would really help people get the right answers.
BTW- What kind of horses are people riding out there? We currently have 3 Tenn. Walkers that I utilize in my training regiment. I have been looking into the Rocky Mountain Gaited Horse, has anybody ever had any dealing with this breed? If so, what are your feelings towards them? Have a good 1. JW

Nothing beats and early morning rise, be it a trout or a covey.

Re: New Section for Horse related topics?
Yeah Yeah Yeah, Brad how about it? Give us just a little teenie weenie spot to talk about our horses and have a opportunity to learn from others who use them trialing!
Has nothing to do with luck just boot leather and a fine GWP...
Re: New Section for Horse related topics?
My next horse will DEFINITELY be a Rocky Mountain. I sent my TWH to a trainer last summer whose breeds of choice are RMH and KMSH's. I went on a judged trail ride with her after about 6 weeks of training and she and a couple of her students took young (3 & 4 yr old) horses on this ride. I was just so impressed with how thoughtful and level-headed these young horses were.
Wendy is in the Lancaster PA area. Check out her website http://www.rockyridgefarms.com
She's got a horse on her website now (Hershey's Black Label) that has been used in field trials. If I was looking for a 2nd horse, he'd be mine right now.

I think that is a great idea as well...
Re: New Section for Horse related topics?
OK. I'm bringing this to the top one last time.
Grant,
Is this a possibility? I see there is a new topic on Horse Trailers and it seems the interest is here if this is a reasonable request.

Re: New Section for Horse related topics?
worked dogs off of my daughters dutch warmblood today. although she is a dressage show horse she was great. she's just so big( 16.3) plus i don't ride much. think a horse section would be great.
Re: New Section for Horse related topics?
I grew up around AQH and cattle, but don't know the first thing about gaited horses, horseback trials, etc. and it would be nice to have something here. IMO it could tie in nicely.
Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.
Re: New Section for Horse related topics?
I'd enjoy it for sure.
Re: New Section for Horse related topics?
I would love to see that new section added. I don't have a horse yet but do enjoy riding them at trials and while at a couple of locals friends that have them as well. It would be a great way to learn more about trial horse and the topic does seem to come up in here as well anyways.

Here is a picture of my two. Sally on the left is the sweetest horse I have ever been around. She comes when called, a dog can rest his paws on her side. Anyone can ride her and she is completely bomb proof. She'll walk all day or touch her and she'll go. Problem is she's really getting old. I wish she was twenty years younger. Sandy is a bit spooky. Snap your fingers and she jumps. Beautiful gait and great conformation but just a pain sometimes. My son rides her. I don't.
Re: New Section for Horse related topics?
Here's my boy, Traveler. Bought him 3 yrs ago as a 4 yr old, he'd never been to a field trial, and I'd taken only a half dozen riding lessons. Talk about stupid!!
He's turned into a wonderful field trial horse, LOVES the game, has been handled off of pretty extensively, judged off of several times, and I've ridden probably hundreds of braces in the gallery on him.
It's taken nearly 3 years, but we like each other now

Re: New Section for Horse related topics?
I don't know what it is, but I have a real soft spot for horses with snips... Adorable boy you have there, Karen!
While I haven't ridden in awhile, and have no knowledge of gaited horses, I'm all for this new section (provided everyone promises to post lots of pictures, of course).
I'd love to see a picture of that Dutch Warmblood, Vols! My last horse before college was a 16.2 Selle Francais. He was a blast. And unlike my previous two, he never sent me to the ER, bless his little heart...

Thats how I started my Snips name..From a great horse with a "snip", then named my first dog Snip.
