How many of you trail ride with your horses?

Sun Oct 06, 2013 9:00 pm

Just curious if anyone pleasure rides beside just using them for FT's. Once upon a time we had 3 that we trail rode. 2 Arabs and a 1/2 Arab/quarter. Had a lot of fun but work forced me out of it due to lack of time. They are a lot of fun and once in your blood hard to get out.

We trail ride ours, use them to work live stock, and use them to work other horses (ponying/roading). I cant imagine only using them for dogs and FT, we ride most of ours 2-3 days a week (if not more) and I feel like we have better horses as a result.

A limit on the strap is nice, but the kill has nothing to do with tradition.

Yes, and they do well. There isnt really anything a horse is going to encounter on the trail that they wouldnt see at a trial. We rode a fair amount at a national battlefield this summer to keep them in some semblance of shape. That being said, trail riding is not my spotted horses' favorite activity, but you ask him to run down a dog in the 90 degree heat and he'll do it with a smile.

Used to love to trail ride this time of year. The leaves changing and the smell in the timber was awesome!
