Aging game birds

Anyone do this? I have heard that the ideal length for pheasants is four days, this season will be my first try.

People used to hang them by the bottom bill and when that came off and the bird dropped it was ready for use.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

This is the first time I saw this posting. I do age all my game birds; upland and waterfowl.
Living large in the Southwest.

I soak the pheas in salt water overnite, then cook them next day without freezing them. When I was a kid, we shot them on the way home from school ate them that nite.. we was poor folk and sometimes this was our only meat.....

I will one day write a song about them days. Ma used to feed us gravy and homemade bread, was all she had.... till we were big enough to shoot the animals we ate... fished the river, helped the old gal down the road for eggs and old chickens.... we thought we was rich....our city cousins begged to stay out there with us.... we was so poor in money but weathy in other ways.

and so on etc.
