quail flight pen
I have a round pen I built when I was an early teenage to break horses in and am considering converting it to a fight pen. It is 42' in diameter and has (2) 10' tall 6"x6" post with another 6x6 attaching the 2 across the gate. I am going to put square chicken wire around the bottom about 4' up, put 2x4's attached to each post around the perimeter going up 10'. I will have a 10' post in the center and a net over the entire thing. So it would basically be a 10' tall by 42' diameter flight pen. I measured yesterday and will need a 75' x 75' net to cover it. Does this plan sound crazy and where can I find a net measuring that? I am seeing everything but 75 x 75.

I am planning to build one also but I am starting from scratch. I am planning it now. What do you plan to do to keep animals from digging under the bottom to enter?

I was going to put a hot wire about 4" off the ground. We are going to use that small 1/4" wire and when we find some one taking down a chain link fence put that over top of the small wire as an extra barrier.

Re: quail flight pen
I had a similar pen. I used one inch poultry netting all the way up the sides one row of 6' and one of 4' 9' high with 1 foot buried in the ground. No. 9 Wire around the top woven through the poultry netting and pig ringed the bird net around the top. 50x50 would do the top. It needs to be one inch because quail will go right through 2 inch. Might be a good idea to cut the height down a couple feet especially around the outside.it might be pretty hard to catch the birds. You can also support the net with no.9 wire off the high post in the center.....Cj
