Hey friends! It's been a while since I've been on the forum but I'm hoping for some recommendations.
I live in Minnesota and will be needing to find a kennel then a dog/litter to put a deposit on soon. I am set on getting a wirehaired breed of some sort based on what I hunt and how I hunt. I am going to chase both upland and waterfowl, but I want a dog that will get out of gun range and find birds. I've been looking into GWP's, Pudelpointers, and Wirehaired Vizslas.
If you have any suggestions on those breeders in or near Minnesota that would be great, but I'd go further for the right breeding.
Thank you!

See link below to breeders list for the German Wirehaired Pointer Club of America, separated by state. You have three top breeders listed in Minnesota and Michigan. These people are serious breeders that do health testing on their dogs and also compete in a wide variety of hunting activities. Most breeds can have their share of genetic problems, and good breeders test to eliminate them; junk breeders do not. Unlike some other breeds --- though not the ones you have mentioned –- there really is not much of a breed split in wirehairs.
Simply to state a credential, I have owned a nationally-ranked FC and MH (same dog) as well as a fine hunter and nationally-ranked competition obedience dog of that breed.
I don't think you'll find a Wirehaired Viszla that runs very big and they are even more rare than Pudelpointers. One of the problems with a rare breed is that it is hard to find, and there are definitely people that sell less-than ideal examples simply because they're rare.
Make some calls off this list, and I think you'll find what you want.
