What is your dogs favorite toy or chew?
I have bought all different sorts of things from balls, to nylabones, pigs ears, ect ect. and as of right now my pups favorite thing is a horse hoof since he is getting in some teeth. I do hope some of the new Kong stuff I have coming in will get him away from the pig ear and hooves.

Right now they have a goat horn they somehow acquired (no goat attached) that they think is the bomb. I prefer cow hooves and shank bones. None of mine will touch Nylabones.
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

i dont know why, but other the real bones or pig ears mine prefers a kong
Re: What is your dogs favorite toy or chew?
The boy has really been liking beef soup bones, he can chew on one for days. I have some sheds kicking around he likes the smaller ones. Deer jaw bones, a weathered compleate beef rib (found it hunting) and his bed. Kongs filled with frozed dog food is a treat for him as well. Oh yea his bedding. baseballs, cups, his brush, tv remotes etc /sigh
We were told to stay away from raw hide and pigs ears since they can break it off and the bits get stuck in thier gut.

Cow Patellas.
They love the nylabones, but only moving them around, low desire to actually chew them. They seem to always be in the wrong place though.

For those few who said antlers, is that something you can get anywhere like a farm supply or a TSC, or is that something you have left over from a deer hunt?

I use leftovers, but you can buy them online. I think there's an Etsy or something or other, google that and see if something comes up. You could make big bucks selling these puppies!
Re: What is your dogs favorite toy or chew?
Sometimes the farm stores have them. Also can be gotten at dog shows--usually there's a vendor. Some of mine are from founds sheds or hunts. Some have come off of eBay, where you can buy anything from full sets of antlers to pieces already cut up for dogs. Even got a set of antlers at a swap meet/flea market type deal once.Ghosted3 wrote:For those few who said antlers, is that something you can get anywhere like a farm supply or a TSC, or is that something you have left over from a deer hunt?

Add a tire to the list of things to chew on. I know when mine drags it out he really has some pent up energy.

An old t-shirt that has been tied into a big knot and an old plastic flower pot. Does anyone use rawhides? I've heard people say they're not safe, but I haven't ever heard that from someone whose dog got sick or worse.
Re: What is your dogs favorite toy or chew?
I do use Pet Factory's 5-6" small rolls/rawhides. They are Made in the USA and say 100% American Beefhide. I try to avoid any edibles from other countries.bigeyedfish wrote:An old t-shirt that has been tied into a big knot and an old plastic flower pot. Does anyone use rawhides? Re: What is your dogs favorite toy or chew?
I get raw beef and bison bones from a local store and Mason loves them. He eats the marrow out and then chews on the bone for days. The store keeps them in the back freezer so we have to specifically ask for them.
Re: What is your dogs favorite toy or chew?
My boy's a power chewer. He loves a rawhide or an antler, when I give him one, but they don't last long. For lasting toys, big nylabones and black kongs.
Re: What is your dogs favorite toy or chew?
elk antlers
Re: What is your dogs favorite toy or chew?
Got about 10 of these hanging around the house, in various stages of disintegration... Nylabones are about as safe as it gets, and if you start them as puppies with the puppy sized ones, they know these are "safe" to chew without getting in trouble for it. We have 2 year old puppies that still play keep away with these. This isn't a commercial I assure you, just been very happy with them.
Just a word of warning, take it for what it's worth... Friends of ours have a dog that doesn't "chew" or "play" with their bedding in their crate. After nearly 6 years, the dog decided to chew up and eat the towel in their crate. Long story short, and a thankfully successful and expensive surgery later, the dog is fine. Keep the toys/bedding as safe as you can. As the toys get small(er) throw them out before they can be swallowed whole.

Chew toy's are pretty much chew toys for me. The dog's don't really pay a lot of attention to any of them, except. Haven't tried this with these dog's but when we had horse's here we gathered up the trim off the hooves when the shoe'r was here and the dog's loved them. I suspect these guy's would too.
I pity the man that has never been loved by a dog!

Right now we have a litter of seven English Pointer pups that are almost 6 weeks old... Their favorite chew toys are my toes when I forget and wear flip flops out into the kennel building to feed them, or let them out into the yard for socialization and exercise.

Here is how it works in our house. Any bone or antler that our GSP has left laying around our Boykin will quickly claim. As soon as she runs off with it the GSP wants it back and takes it from her. She goes to get another bone and the process starts again. The favorite items to go for are the antlers!
Re: What is your dogs favorite toy or chew?
My pups love the washed out milk jugs. They love the noise they make and end up fairly flat soon after they start playing with them. Months later they're still playing hard with them.
It's a cheap toy.

Bought one of these a few days ago, based on this post. (chicken flavor). It is being well-received by my two wirehairs. My male chews on it; my bitch steals it from him. Could be just that it's new, but..thanks for the suggestion, shnool.SHNOOL wrote:Got about 10 of these hanging around the house, in various stages of disintegration... Her favorite play things:
shredding the morning newspaper
stealing my socks
chewing up a dog bed
relocating shoes
countersurfing
wrestling with a plastic soda bottle
She does love a few "real" dog toys. Her favorite is a kong like toy that looks like a squirrel and you fill it with kiddle (AKA kibble squirrel). She throws it up in the air and when it lands it spits out kibble. The other is a tug rope that she shreds. I can occupy her for a good bit of time with a bully stick but I only gives those when I'm home because I worry about choking.

Re: What is your dogs favorite toy or chew?
Steve007, no problem... Yep we got dogs deciding to burry them in the dog yard, and playing keep away with them... They are solid, and heavy, and make a huge THUD when they hit the tile... surely you know where the dogs are with them! Funny as all heck watching a 10lb Brit pup charging through the house with one... even funnier when they get stopped cold trying to get through the dog door with it sideways in their mouth!
Also less likely they'll choke on "parts" of it.

Chuck it!!! She can't get enough of it. When I say the words she goes nuts! Go ahead and by the rubber balls that are sold separate. They fly better and farther than the tennis ball type it comes with. The glow in the dark one is great too! Just hold it up to the porch light and you can see it forever!

My girl loves empty plastic bottles with the lids taken off, a squeaker toy with a plastic bottle inside of it, a stuffingless squeaker toy, rawhides, and wood stolen from the wood pile.
