Water system?

Post by Remfan87 » Fri Jun 27, 2025 9:36 am

Hello, I have always hunted my gsps in the desert with just 2 6gal water jugs and whatever water they can find. There has been several times where we've had to stop hunting or refill water during middle of hunting. Also the jugs are not very user friendly. I have been thinking of building a 15-20 gallon water station with tank, 12v water pump, and hose. This would increase water carrying capability, give me the option to spray down dogs, wash dogs off, clean wounds, lots of other things I cannot do with 6 gal jug. Has anyone done anything like this before? One thought is using 15 gallon sprayer from tractor supply but have to change hose and I dont know if the pump would provide the volume I'm looking for? Does anyone have experience with water pressure vs GPM? I found a pump online that says 5.5 GMP at 70psi. Would this be volume/pressure that's comparable to home garden hose? Thanks in advance. Please let everyone know your opinions and ideas here as well

If I were to try and make a system I would look to Grainger for the materials needed because they would have everything your looking for to build this type system. 70 psi sounds to me like double what you would need. Hope this helps ~

It seems like if you run out of water with 12 gallons you probably use more with this system and need a little bigger tank. You certainly don't need a 70PSI pump and 5gpm would empty your tank pretty fast. 70 psi would peel the skin off the dogs.
Like was mentioned, Grainger could supply everything you need.........Cj

I have friends who have made showers for their surf/camping rigs with large diameter ABS or PVC pipe. They install a bike shrader valve, a hose bib and a top port to fill it up. They pressurize it with a bike pump and it does not require any electricity or wiring.

That said, I can’t imagine needing that much water for a day of hunting.
