Post by Vman » Tue Jun 26, 2012 10:46 am

I have a shrew in my office that I cannot catch. I have tried live traps, mouse traps, glue boards and poison. This little b_stard has to go. I looked on the internet but all I can find is Humane ways. I don`t want humane,, I want DEAD. Suggestions anyone?

Catch it humanely... AND KILL IT!!!

I saw a book about "taming a shrew" that might help.

I have two of the worthless things outside. The shrew is in my Kennel office and dogs coming in and out all the time won`t work very good. I may put the cat in her at night and let it out during the day. it may be the only thing that will work. Biggest problem I have with the cat is he will eat the shrew. I want the shrew so I can stomp on its head.

Shrews are itty bitty things that normally don't enter structures. Are you sure that's what you're dealing with? They eat bugs, so removing the food source helps eliminate them. Regardless, I like smoke bombs for tunneling rodents.

Let the cat eat the shrew then stomp both the cat and shrew, two 'birds" with one stone! 8)

I don't know much abour Shrews, but I've never heard anything about them being disease-ridden like mice or rats. Why not just leave him alone. I think it'd be kind of neat.

Actually, some species of shrews have been shown to have a neurotoxin in their saliva, so wear sturdy shoes when you stomp its head. :)

Will sturdy shoes kill the neurotoxin? Most of the neurotoxins I have heard of are in the food we eat, especially the ones labeled organic.

We used to have several shrewsbunder an old house we lived in years ago and they found a way into the entry/utility room. Never saw them till evening and they would appear. Think they were eating the cats food. Caught several of them in the mouse traps.

I don`t know for certain it is a shrew. But because I have tried every trap they sell and can`t catch it tells me it is a shrew. either that or it is the smartest mouse in the world.
The biggest reason I hate it so is that it sh_ts all over my counter top in the kennel and I have to clean it up every morning. By the amount of skat there may be a whole fam damly. Drives me nuts.

Peanut butter on a rat trap. If that don't catch it you know it's a shrew. We don't have them here but rats and mice cannot resist peanut butter.

Mouse trap.JPG
I put a tom cat in the office overnight for two nights. Sh_t hit the fan as there was stuff knocked off my desk and window sills. The cat seemed plump when I threw hi out the door in the am. I will continue with the cat for another week and make sure the critters are gone. The cat just got an extended stay of execution. :D

Leave a piece of chocolate Ex-Lax on the floor. I use it for moles and it works.
