Thank you for your service, gittrdone! If I wasn't such an old fart, I'd have been right in there with you. That is most definitely a worthwhile mission.

Hey congrats! If the rains are good, you have an opportunity for the quail triple crown down there (Mearns, Scaled, Gambels). That is Coue's deer country too, and just beautiful country in general. Excellent school system as well - if that matters to you.

I am now retired. I have been..... a labourer, a Civil Servant, a Guide Dog trainer, a swimming instructor and a Postman (Mailman.) I used to do a lot of pointing dog work up the grouse moors for paying guests of various shooting estates and I still work for a few estates as a "picker-up" with my dogs on the big driven shoots. I train a few dogs for other folk too and take gundog training classes. I've never got rich but most of the time I have enjoyed myself.

They do like veterans and give prefernce to those with veterans status. Like any job it has it's challenges....

I do love my job, but you had better be ready to pack up and be gone for awhile maybe in another state for 8-10 days at a time.
Pay is good, benefits are good and retirement if I get there is good.

I can't speak for all the crafts in the system but the Signal dept is a good one IMO......but not for everyone.
