Rock River LAR 47

Any one seen this new brew of a Gun?
It is an AR type Frame, blended with an AK47 receiver an the 7.62X39 round. I first saw it in Guns and Ammo.

How well are the Rock River guns made?
How reliable?
Customer Service?

I have read some good reviews of them.
This firearm is a long lead time I know they are about 6 to 8 months so far. A local shop ordered 20 of them. All spoken for.

I like have only seen it in a magazine and online. It looks cool, if you get one at some point let us know how it is.

Rock River AR's are excellent but I haven't played with that hybrid. I wish now that I hadn't sold mine.

Have several buddies with RRA. 2nd to none. And they are only about and hour and a half from me.

2nd to none? So you're saying RRA wouldn't come second to any of these? Daniel Defense? Colt? Noveske? Larue? Sabre Defense? BCM?

I wouldn't put RRA behind any of those listed but if you wanna see an AR that stands above most others, google Dave Lauck.

I am not a fan of the 5.56 round, nor of most of the rifles that fire it. A. 22 is great on squirrels though. I think this one is worth a serious look. I should have bought an AR 10 when they were under a 1,000 bucks, my Mini 30 is getting some age on it.

I have decided: I think, Maybe I am going to go with the M10 7.62X51/308. Having all the same ammo appeals to me>>>> I already own 308 for my hunting rifle with scope. I have a Ruger Scout 308 on order for a brush gun. I do not really like scopes.

I still like the Idea of the LAR47 over the Mini 30, I like shooting them.
I have my name on a Mini 30 but not sure if I want it. Neil, Do you like your Mini 30? Any problems,

I think I am correct but maybe not. You can shoot the 7.62X51 in the 308 bolt guns but not the 308 in the AR type semi guns. Is that correct. Then they have the ammo that is 7.62X51/308 which you can shoot in either, Is that correct also? There is some slight difference in Military and civilian Ammo. what is it?

Rick I like the Mini 30, it is light, easy to handle, fairly accurate (3" at a 100 yards), and the ballistics a bit better than the 30-30 (a round that has killed 1,000's of deer). Other than one magazine I had to adjust, I have had no function problems, you pull the trigger and it keeps going boom.

It is not a. 308! It will not give you the downrange performance.

And I thought the 7.62 x 51 was identical to the .308, but we need someone more informed.

The wall thicknesses are different between the 7.62X51 and the .308 win and they operate at different pressures. SAAMI does not address the interchangeability so I do not either. As far as the 30 carbine outperforming a 30-30? I'm not sure where those numbers are coming from. The carbine uses a 110 gr. Bullet at about 1900 fp's. And the 30-30 does about 2680fps with the same weight bullet. The 30-30 also has bullets much heavier than 110gr and will produce significantly higher energy levels. If you handload you can load .308 spitzer bullets and get even better performance but you can't stack them behind each other in a lever action or you might have a problem.

The Mini 30 shoots the 7.62 x 39, 123 grain @ 2,359 fps, but you are right the 30 - 30 still gets the nod.

I left out the two biggest selling points of the Mini 30, low recoil and low noise.
