Good Gun dog Book?

I need to read a book, and i am intested in a book about a dog, something similar to "Where the red fern grows" "Old Yeller" and "Rascal" something like that,
Not a training book, but a reader book,

Big Red by Jim Kjelgaard is a good one.

I really enjoyed A Hunters Road by Jim Fergus. He travels the US one fall hunting all different areas for all different kinds of birds with his lab Sweets. It's a good read and some parts are pretty funny.

OMG! I read this book on someone's recommendation and I cried through the entire second half. I still have nightmares about Jenny on point waiting for Ben. I couldn't put the book down but I would like to remember who suggested it so I could slap them. I am emotionally scared for life.
