Veterans

Post by Big bloc » Sun Sep 28, 2014 11:43 am

http://www.renocountyveterans.com/ I am trying to find a web site I can find out the dates of my Dad and Uncle were in the service. I would like to get their names on the wall. I have an idea, but they are looking for time served. I know it was in the 40s. Thanks in advance for any info

Google "DD214". Not sure if it will go back to the 40s but that is the official military record. There are companies who can expedite such records for limited charge.

I would only TRY to use the Veterans Admin as a last resort.

Try a simple search on ancestry.com. You'll be surprised at the amount of information you can find on family members...even ones you didn't know you had.

if your county has a veterans service officer they could help you out also I think the American legion could possibly point you in the right direction odds are you wont be able to find it online but you can go to http://www.archives.gov/veterans/milita ... e-records/ and request records, It can take a while they get something like 3000 to 4000 request a day I sent in for my own records and have been waiting almost 2 months.
