April the first and a big snowstorm last night. The woodcock may wish they'd waited a bit longer.

Everyone worries every year. Mother nature sure can be hard at times. My yard today was looking like spring with wildlife songbirds, deer, wood ducks , geese , squirrels yet freezing temps ,blowing snow and winter gray skies. All our snow is just about gone where ever the sun can work. Big piles are another story. Won't be long now.

There's still plenty of snow on the forest floor where I'm at in MN. Plus it has a hard crust on it, so it's making life difficult for those ground birds, although I think there are enough open spots for any woodcock that moved in.

The bummer is I like to work my pointer on the migrating birds in the spring, but I haven't really had a chance and the official nesting season starts 4/15 so I may not get the chance.
