I would like to have a Jack Russell. Cool little dogs that think they St. Bernards. And I would not register the little bugger with the Friggin AKC.

I've been partial to the shelties for a while now. This girl is now the retiree, but she would run miles with the big dogs just 2 years agao even, at 10 years old. Now, 12 and dealing with arthritis, she takes that boss the others around from the porch approach. She retrieves with as much enthusiasm, sometimes more, than any of my sporting guys...

I think I would go with either a Rhodesian Ridgeback or a beagle. I think ridgebacks are handsome looking dogs, and I grew up with a lot of friends who hunted rabbits with beagles and also kept them as house dogs....fun little guys but tough to take outside....all they want to do is hunt.

I have mastiffs with the shorthairs
and my daughter has her own dogs - border terrier and sheltie.
We got the shorthairs to have a smaller dog LOL
The border makes a great pet for a child and she is an awesome lap dog
I am working on the webpage - very outdated but there are pictures of mastiffs, shorthairs and border terriers on there

If I wanted to hunt with it maybe a standard poodle. I've seen a couple at training days of a retriever club and both were pretty good. Owner said they hunted as well.

A co-worker has an Austrailian sheppard and he's a great little guy. I've always like the looks of the dogs that look similar to the Siberian husky as well. See a lot of pictures of those types of dogs heading out with their owners to go backcountry skiing.

We will always own a St. Bernard, gentle giant, thinks she is a lap dog. We also have a Great Pyrenees at the barn, both these breads do well in the Iowa winters. The oldest daughter has Australian Shepherd, Bernese Mix, very smart dog.

My choice would be a siberian husky from a good sled dog line. I think it would be fun to get into and could get me back into some more remote ice fishing areas easier!

There are other kinds of dogs, besides gsp's? Just kidding:) Have one 8 month old gsp and one 10 year old rescue lab. Did have collies years ago.

I've thought it over, but I am fixated on sporting dogs. I've never had anything else and I really don't care to.
