Strange e-mails about buying a puppy

Post by PowerPoint » Tue Jun 10, 2008 1:32 pm

has anyone ever recieved a weird response to an add they have posted on gundogsonline? I got one where a guy wanted to send cashiers ck for amount of pup without askng any questions at all, then at the ens of the mail it startes talking about buting a horse, when I dont even have one for sale.i'l try to post it.

Thanks for your return email.... I think am willing to pay for your final asking price .... but Payment would have to be made out to you inform of a check/bank draft.... ok?.
The Payment that will be issued will include the money for the sales of the puppy + the shipping cost, Therefore, there will be an excess funds on the payment. This is so because i insisted to make the whole payment out at once.

I would have liked to handle the payment aspect myself but I am presently out of town handling a project hence i am requesting your assistance.

All you just need to do is to deposit the cashier's check/bank draft and when the funds clear from your bank, deduct the funds for your her, And the excess funds OR any difference in the payment you are to wire to the shipper via western union money transfer OR bank account that will be provided to you before you receive payment.

I would like to state clearly that this she will be shipped and I have a shipper who I will designate to pick her up for shipment at the your location. So you not going to be bothered with any shipping, all shipping duties and taxes will be handled by my shipper when he comes around for pick.

I will be willing to entertain more of your questions that might arise . I must mention to you that i will have your details considered for immediate payment issuance as soon as I receive a response from you that all is a go...

I await your quick response and make sure you confirm to me ASAP that you have gotten this email. I might not reply to your email immediately because of the level of work load on me but I will surely do later ....

Thanks for your understanding.
Anderson...
Remember that Your Full Name, Contact Address, and a Phone Number will be needed to send you payment.

This is a common internet scam after you send the excess money it will turn out that the bank draft is fake and you will be out all the money, as you will owe the bank the whole sum

Well, if you wait until it clears before sending the excess funds/shipping money, you shouldn't have a problem, right?

I agree it is obviously a scam, I just don't get it. It's the equivalent of cashing a check for someone. You wait until it clears.

Yep a scam. Let me tell you how. First it is a way of money laundry or what seen personally when I posted there. A person is writing fake checks that a company don't know about and they want you to cash it. It will clear but a month or 2 down the road they will come after you for check fraud. Reason I know is I wanted to catch the person trying to scam me and told them to send the check. I then contacted the place the check came from and the police. They wont catch them cause they can not trace it to anyone. I told the person after I got the check that my name was spelld wrong and if they gave me a address I would send it back and they could send me anouther one, guess what they would not.

I get these every single time I post a horse for sale on an internet site. The spelling and sentence structure has always been a dead give away on the ones I receive, and the fact they want to buy something site unseen! Denise

definitely a phishing scam, looking for personal information, most likely bank information later down the line once they reel you in
