New Whelping Pens

Post by Southwind » Wed Jun 03, 2009 4:09 pm

I just finished turning a old single room school house into a two seperate indoor/outdoor whelping pens. It was quite a bit of work, but it should work really nice. I wanted to share a few pics with you guys and welcome all feedback. Thanks, Steve

That looks like a really nice and easy to clean and maintain set up.

Thanks guys, it was a lot of work, but with me at the fire station for 24 hrs at a time I needed a nice setup so the wife would have to do as little as possible to look after the pups. Hopefully, it works out well.

Looks like some pigeons on the roof. What kind of setup do you have for them? Nice setup for the pups. I know where you're coming from. Only 20 more years of those 24hr shifts.

Nothing fancy for the birds. I had some round 20ft slabs of concrete that used to have grain bins on them. I built my pens on top of the concrete so critters could not did in. My bird pens are 8 ft by 8 ft by 7 ft tall. I framed it all up with 2 by 4's and put plywood sheets around the bottom. That left three feet around the top for the chicken wire. Once I get some paint on it, I will post some pics.
