Post by stetson82 » Wed Sep 30, 2009 6:53 am

Hey guys I am looking for some help. I live and have grown up in northern il my wife and I are now moving to austin mn for her job.. I was looking for any local lab or gsp clubs. along with places to run birds. public lands or good hunt clubs nearby. Maybe some training companions. Being brand new to the area I am hoping this is the place for info. Also looking for vet suggestions in the area. Thanks Adam

I have been up to a couple field trials in Rogers Mn and the people at the GSPC of Mn are a great group. They are a lot of fun and run some great trails. A few of the guys are frequent posters on this site, so you will probably hear from them soon and they will be able to provide with all sorts of valuable information on Minnesota.

Check out the Lake Country Retriever Club just south of Mpls./St Paul.
Here is the website. http://www.lcretrieverclub.org

I have run many of there Hunt Tests over the years.... they are
good people, devoted to hunting retriever work.

There are a couple NAVHDA clubs to choose from here in MN. Lots of good people and training information. You might even be able to convince one or two to go hunting with you. :)

As you no doubt already know southern MN usually has some decent wild pheasant hunting. Wild turkeys are more often found closer to the Mississippi River Valley area. There is also the Caribou Gun Club in LeSueur, MN which includes a hunting preserve.
