Next year's Derby.

Post by Yawallac » Mon Mar 15, 2010 7:34 pm

Jake will be 1 year old on the 23rd of this month. He will be our featured Derby for next season.

I took this video today because Doug hates stacked pics. He's just a pup, so he'll make a mistake or two ...but he's not too bad. :D

First find - about 25 birds got up and I didn't shoot right away because I saw another bird in front of him. The bird flushed and flew about 10 yards behind him.

Second Find.

Third find.

These two I tried to get some video of him moving but it was tough driving, handling and trying to work the camera.

Stacked photo for Doug -

What trials are you planning on attending? I'll make sure I don't waste my money.

I didn't know pointers whelped in March, are you sure he is not born yet? Most of his competition is 3 years old now.

Nice dog, very nice,

Thanks everybody. I'm surprised that no one asked if I could milk him! :D Just bred him to this Miller female to see what he can produce ...and to clean him up a bit.

Love that female. Lemons are my favorite pointer color. :D Or is she orange? Oh, well, she is real pertty anyway.

Those aren't roads, they're fire breaks. Dang Mid-westerners!! :D

BTW, guess what? Did you see that our "This year's Derby" just qualified for the National Shooting Dog Championship yesterday? That's Jack, my avatar, he placed 2nd in the Dixie Derby Classic (1 hr) and then finished 2nd in the National Qualifier, Dixie Shooting Dog Classic. That means that Ben will have some competition! :D

The BAMA started today. The IN is next and then George heads north. I assume the MI, Egypt, Keystone, Canadian, etc. We'll send two north, not sure who will be going with Jack yet. Rocky, Ace and Cooper are trying to earn a ride. :D

Very nice Ross. Like his snappy tail action.

On the breeding, who owns "Kraftman's Ko Kane"? I see you have Molly that is a product of Kraftman's Ko Kane and Miller and you have Jack that is a nick of Kraftman's Ko Kane and Guard Rail. Which do you think worked best? And don't give me the "BOTH" answer ;)

And congrats on Jack's recent qualification.

Her owner wishes to remain anonyomous, so I can not say (It's a Miller thing :D)

I'm glad you noticed that. The plan is to have every dog in the kennel "connected". We're getting close now. I had to identify my foundation females and that took two years, then select future studs. So it's not about which worked best in the short term, it's a long term breeding plan. But both Guard Rail and Miller figure prominently. :)
And congrats on Jack's recent qualification.
Thank you.

Nice dog... Let me know if he needs a little cooler weather this summer and I'll run him in some NSTRA stuff this summer for you... Can't promise he won't be bred to my miller bitches...

When's the Indiana trial? I spoke with Nathan Phillips Sunday, and might try to make it if he decides to run.

Also could you either post or email photos of your johnny houses? I'm going to be building some in the next few weeks.

Where's the trial and do you have any information on it? I'm off that weekend and would like to go see some dogs run...
