Wild birds? Nope. Pen Quail? Nah. Pigeons? no way. Rats? Check. haha...man I wish I lived closer to the country!

On a related note, I took my dogs out to run today.. (man it was warm, sheesh) we took our time and wasn't trying to be quiet or anything while I got stuff out of the top storage of my box, put my camelback on, loaded my pistol, put collars on the dogs, etc. We went no more than 60-70 yards and I faintly heard something and my Stud "Cy" slammed on the brakes, and I thought was going to point, but he had a dead tail. I was like what the heck?, I started to walk up to him reaching for my pistol (I knew it wasn't birds) and all off a sudden 2 deer come a bustin out of the tree row next to the bird strip we were just barely inside. Missed me by maybe 15 feet.. which was all to close when you're peein ur pants!

When I did live in the city (worst years of my life) I found a couple parks on the outer fringe of town. Walked my dogs there daily, often they would point a wild pheasant or quail.

Last fall I took one of my pups to Petco. I'm at the register and the guy behind me asks if my pup was pointing. I look down and he's pointing towards the machine that engraves dog tags. I thought maybe he was sight pointing the broom leaning against the machine. He held point untill I walked up gave the broom a soft kick, a white mouse runs out across the floor and under a display rack. Not expecting that he yanked the leash out of my hand, shopping carts went flying and the bottom half of the rack was cleared before I caught him. Luckily an employee caught the rack before it went all the way over. We aren't welcome at that store any more.......

My new GWP went on a quick point next to the fence at the dog park the other night. Before I could react she jumped over it and ran to the tree's about 20' past the fence. As I called her she came running out of the tree's back over the fence and run straight to me. Then with about 15 people stand around watching, proudly dropped the just despacted rabbit at me feet. Of course here I am surrounded by folks not really sure what they had just seen, my GWP looking up at me all proud and happy, and of course the dead rabbit laying on the gound in front of me. Now by this time my GSP who has never even given a rabbit a second look has wondered over and decided that he needed the rabbit grabing it up and started running
away with it. Next thing I know I have my GWP and about 10 other dogs chasing my GSP around the park in a gaint game of get the rabbit. So on the next pass around I used my "I am not messing around voice" to whoo both the dogs and get the rabbit which I managed to get back toss back into the woods. For a split second I really did think about not releasing them from whoo and sneak to the car to make a quick get away. All in all made for an interesting outing for the evening. Shame it was not colder this time of year it looked to be a pretty good sized rabbit.

lol! This is some good stuff! I too have seen my pup pointing and stalking leaves falling, flies, hornets, butterflies... never a mouse in a pet store. Should maybe try that out.
