GSP weight question?
GSP weight question?
My gsp weighed about 40lbs at six months. But what my questionis whats the normal weight for them and how skinny should they be? I feed him 3 cups a day but lately I have seen more ribs, hips and bones overall. Could some of you GSP owners that have a pic of your dog around 6 months post some for reference. I will try to post a current pic if i can get him to stand still for a second. thanks in advance.

I agree. Feed 2 cups twice a day. High protein.

Here is mine at 6 months, I would say she weighed between 40-45 pounds, she is now 1 year 7 months and at 55 pounds.

How tall is the dog? I have a 50 pound dog that is too thin and a 50 pound dog that is too fat. The former is a 25", nine month old male and the latter is a coming four year old 22" female.
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

My girl at 6-8 months I think...35 pounds out of shape. In my profile pic she is about 50 lbs and a year old.

While your pup may look thin realize that in growth and development not everything proceeds at the same rate. Relate it to a short pudgy 7th grader that shoots up as a freshmen and looks lanky, then as a senior muscle fills out that lankyness. Make sure they are getting a good quality food, plenty of excercise. Give it time, its just a pup everything will even out with maturity.
