So today I was looking at the "Introduce Yourself" board and noticed that we recently have added 4 Texans to our ranks! That got me thinking... a lot of the Texans on this board post about needing a place to train or needing access to bird or needing to buy birds etc...
So I thought I would start this thread and see if us Texans can pull together and help each other out. If you are in Texas and are looking for birds/ trainers/ places to train, let us know on this thread. Let us know what part of Texas you are in and what you are looking for and maybe we can help each other out.
Burleson TX (south Ft. Worth) looking for a place to train and somone with an older dog that my pup can learn from...

It's a great site to find others to train with/hunting with/buy birds whatever. I have done all of those things through that forum. A decent amount of us are around the DFW area and we get together fairly often. I even learned how to train my dog by watching him and then he would watch the things I was doing with my pup to clearly make sense of things. There is already a trip being planned to head to Kansas near the start of the season.
This year I will be training in Anna, TX through TIBHA (texas independent bird hunters association). They run a non-profit lease to train gun dogs.
We went out by Fort Worth towards the end of last season to do a mock Bird Dog Challenge event at TTT (triple t) outfitters. Hopefully we make it back out there again this season.

Re: Calling all Texans
The Amarillo Bird Dog Club has grounds and birds to train anytime you want. We accept responsible people as members. It's a long ways from you though. Right after college, everyone wants to live in Dallas or Houston, two years later and married, all my buddies are jealous of me living up here with great upland hunting. I can get to Kansas after work on Friday. The eastern panhandle is one of the last places with good wild quail hunting (when it rains). I go train after work some days and call my buddies stuck in traffic to rub it in. I think the grounds in Anna will probably be your best bet, don't know the situtation but if you have a free saturday (or ten), can get pigeons (not sorry flying quail), a few kitchen passes and get some training days in, you can get it done yourself.

Wow you guys seem like you really like helping other hunters out. I just got on this forum today and i am looking for help. I have a 8 month old lab that i am working with and trying to train to hunt but honestly i am lost. Got most of the the basics down and all. He will retrieve dummies in and out of water and all. I am trying to figure out how to teach him directions so we can start working on blind retrieving. if any one has any information i would really appreciate it. also i live in Burleson
