Need a recommendation for my next dog
Need a recommendation for my next dog
I am looking for a puppy in the very near future, and I am hoping you guys can help me out as far as decent breeders for GSP's in Georgia. I have done a lot of reading and research but I am not sure what to think so far. Also, any bloodline recommendations would be appreciated.

Walnut Hill Kennel...There is no need to look any further

Re: Need a recommendation for my next dog
I would love a puppy from them but they are not planning a breeding until next spring. I guess I am a little impatient but I was hoping for a puppy before then and have him on the ground by next season.

+1... Call Walnut Hill and don't look back.

Might want to look into Eshod Farms. Ray Dohse is a great guy!

I have a finished girl if your interested. But don't get me wrong I LOVE puppies too.
Walnut hill is good stuff, my mentors, and friends, and I have a dog bred by brenda, and dog trained by rick, and a young pup sired by a Mav from their breeding. Eshod also good, also might try royalerun.

Re: Need a recommendation for my next dog
I have never heard of that Captain Crunch dog.
I am picking up a pup in a couple of weeks out of Ryder, out of Mason x Lady (http://www.hi-tailyn.com/Eshod_s_Ryder.html) and Hanna (http://www.hi-tailyn.com/Eshod_s_North_Dakota_Gal.html). Hanna is a sweet girl and can really get after some birds. Ryder is an upcoming trial prospect out "bringing home the bacon" I think there are still some females available in this litter.
Also on Rays website there are some Lady and Mason pups for sale. I knows he trialing right now so I dont know how up to date that is.

Re: Need a recommendation for my next dog
Eshod's Captain Crunch is out of Gamble's Odyssey Fritz x Ik's Eshod Delight "Dee" which looks to me to be a pretty good line.
Re: Need a recommendation for my next dog
Yeah those dogs are great. Scott Bodenstab, the one who whelped my pups litter, just got done running Dee in the ameture stakes at the GSPCA Nationals. He got called back for the second series. Last year Dee won the open championship at the same trial and in 2010 she was runner up. And as far as Fritz goes... well I dont need to say much, you already know.
Re: Need a recommendation for my next dog
Great! My first dog has a pretty good line, but I wanted a dog with an outstanding background as I have been thinking about trials and such so I have high hopes for this next one.
Re: Need a recommendation for my next dog
While I don't know them personally, I would certainly agree with the comments about Walnut Hill Kennel based on reputaion alone. I see you are located in Ga. Contact Rich Barber , rich@outbakkennel.com (thats outbak, not outback). Great guy, great dog's. My avatar dog is out of his stuff and we couldn't be happier with him. Rich will head to Ga. early Dec for his Winter training. You may want to check with him. We head to Kansas this Friday for the first of several trips to Kansas. Good luck with your search. Few things as exciting as the anticipation of a new puppy.

not in georgia, but take a look at dunfur kennels.
I recently posted a video of two 10 month old pups that are well on there way to being broke.

Re: Need a recommendation for my next dog
Drive over to Walnut Hill or one of the others and talk to them, see what they have and if it fits what you are looking for. Nothing beats putting your own hands and eyes on a dog to know what YOU are looking for. Everyone has an opinion and its fine to ask but only you know what you are looking for. With that being said the spring litter at Walnut Hill should be fantastic, out of dogs proven in multiple venues. What is waiting another six months when you will have the dog for 10 plus years?
