Watching wrong kind of cooking show!

Post by wems2371 » Sat Nov 05, 2011 11:26 am

So here I sit on a Saturday, waiting for a few of the home building shows to coming on PBS. I was busy cleaning and saw a few ladies on the tv rolling some long wide ribbon pasta, with some kind of spinach and ricotta cheese type mix. Then they made a cream sauce with diced tomatos and basil or oregano and put it all in the oven. Yum, looks good. That's when I found out they were cooking for dogs... Although I primarily feed kibble, I'm not against feeding meat scraps, venison, even veggies like green beans. The other day I shared my apple with Brandi. BUT the day that I pull the herbs off the spice rack, heat up the oven, and literally prepare my dog a cooked meal...somebody shoot me. Oh yeah, they are making cornbread muffins for dogs now... :D

Lol. I am currently dog sitting a friend's malamute and that dog gets his kibble mixed with rare cooked salmon, carrots, berries and with glucosamine, flax oil and fish oil (no wonder the thing is 158 lbs!). I love my friend dearly so I mix the muck up for the dog but definitely do my fair share of head shaking and eye rolling

No, they can't be. Corn will kill a dog. Dogs never eat corn.

Mary is the griller and she comes up with some fine eats! According to what I saw today on tv, I might not be talented enough to cook for my dog! :D

I haven't seen the show your talking about but I love to cook. LOVE IT. When I have spare time which isn't often, I've been known to cook my dog bada$$ meals. She loves it and I don't mind ever doing it. She's a good doggie. :)

I save the scraps of venison from my deer and my friends deer. Nothing keeps a dog going in the cold like raw meat scraps and watered down quality kibble. I also throw my dogs broccoli, beans, apples, cabbage (They love cabbage), etc. When I peel carrots/potatoes, I simply peel them onto the floor and my dogs eat them. Less clean up for me. :D

My guys get all of my scraps from whatever animal we are eating. Deer, pheasant, fish, beef, pork, etc. They love fresh cut veggies and salad. Not sure why, but my male will go kucku for crunchy lettuce.

I gave my dog a bone once.

Good thing they dont have a tv in the kennel or I would be screwed.

If I have non-spicy, dog safe scraps they get em'. I have made dog treats out of scraps: baked fish or peanut butter into em'. I find its easier to add vitamins and oils that way, and I don't waste leftover food. Am I going to make them a nice homemade pasta dinner, however... heck no!
