for the field trial crowd......
Who's your favorite at Ames this year? I'd like to see Prairieland Pride win it myself but that's for personal reasons. I like Happy Jack. Seems wide open to me.
Re: for the field trial crowd......
I am always rooting for a West Coast dog to win it.

Re: for the field trial crowd......
I personally would like to see a setter take it this year. It seems dominated by pointers it would be nice to see the underdog take it. Just what I would liek to see. either way it should be exciting.
I'd rather live on the side of a mountain, than wander through canyons of concrete and steel.

Game Maker.

Re: for the field trial crowd......
My favorites to win are Connor's EZ Button, Shadow Oak Bo(Shag) and Lester's Snow Watch
Who I'd like to win are Elhew Sinbad(I have dogs out of him) or Gamemaker(Great birddog, but the time clock has passed him by I'm affraid)
Bigsugar, PP is a bird finding machine but I think how he can look on his game could hurt him(right or wrong).

Very few of the dogs at Ames ever look real good on their birds it seems from the photos I have seen. Snowatch looks good so does Gamemaker.
I am rooting for a western dog to get it done!

Re: for the field trial crowd......
I'm rooting for White Out to repeat. I think that keith Wright, his owner, is a great guy and I am a fan of Ike Todd's also, even though I just met him one time in passing. To be as young as they are I think that they have a tremendous program going and should be a threat at Ames for about as long as they want to be.
Re: for the field trial crowd......
Yeah vagas Ted being close to 10 doesn't help his style either. Conners ez button is a nice choice too.

A lot depends on when the pics were taken. Big difference in style at 25 or 30 minutes, and after a couple hours

I understand that. And I think after 2 hrs on the ground it is probably a little more acceptible. And that was my point. That kind of style wont cut it at the 25 min. mark.

Roster is posted http://www.amesplantation.org/pdf%20fil ... 0Stake.pdf. Fingers crossed here for Jax Jabba. He's a local dog here in Central Oregon and his owners are real nice folks (gorgeous dog too).

Nice looking dog, Elkhunter.....
Re: for the field trial crowd......
I'll be rootin hard for the old man Elk. He's a long shot in a field of great dogs but I hope he can do it.
Sorry Josh wrong pic. I fixed it. My apologies.

Thanks ckirsch I love that dog! Hope to get him broke this summer to compete in our lowly western CH's. He is headed out to chukar land tomorrow with me to get some revenge on the Devil birds.ckirsch wrote:Nice looking dog, Elkhunter.....

No problem Andy I love it when old Ruger gets some free press! You see he was my very first bird dog I have ever owned and he passed away a few weeks ago. Will always be my favorite dog!
Your right I have this!
He did a CHIT load of this...
Which ended in a CHIT load of these usually!
Stuck with him through thick and thin! You go through more dogs than I go through underwear!
Re: for the field trial crowd......
You make a great point Elkhunter. I love what field trials do for bird dog progression, but hunting wild birds.....love that competition even more. Also, nice pointer, and sorry for your loss. It hurts to lose an old friend/good dog.
I would love to see Snowatch or one of the "old" dogs do it again. An old dog winning a 3 hour heat.... now that shows stamina/heart.

2009 California open AA championship
2010 RU Pacific coast championship

Re: for the field trial crowd......
Phillip's White Twist seems to have great style for a Miller dog. My personal experience with the Miller dogs which is limited to a few is that they often point low in the front. I am ok with that as the ones I've had experience with are extremely hard working and darn good bird finders. SCK

Scott that's a pretty nice dog. I think Nathan has a bunch of nice white dogs around his place.

Re: for the field trial crowd......
I am not certain which dogs are qualified or entered but...
If Erin's Special Force is entered, I gotta root for him. You don't see Gunsmoke breeding in the big dance and cover dog Gunsmoke breeding at that!
Also if any of the Redemption's Reward bred dogs(Ivester or Robinson) are running, I gotta pull for them too. I love that stuff in a dog...when it isn't driving me nuts.

She was the only one entered. We put the other dogs in just to make it look better.
Setternut I have been beat by sis already. She's a real nice hound. John always shows up with nice dogs. You have to BEAT him. He's not gonna give you an inch. That's why I like him.
