Pups trying out their new digs!
Pups trying out their new digs!
I know I've posted here before that we bought a LQ trailer last month. It spent 2 weeks at the local RV shop, getting it's state mandated safety inspection and being gone over with a fine toothed comb for leaks, issues, broken appliances, etc.
I'm happy to report that it got a clean bill of health! The only recommendation was to remove the existing caulk around the LQ and replace, as it was original, so we did have that done, and we had a "porch light" put in the stud stall, which we've now converted to a mid-tack/dog room.
We took measurements before the trailer went into the shop and while there, my hubby built dog boxes to fit in the stud stall. We purchased a stall mat from tractor supply and cut it up to fit the bottom of each box tightly, then had cordura dog beds custom-made to fit in each box (the boxes are 16.5" x 30.5" x 23" high), then I threw a new nylabone in each box.
Here are the pups trying it out:
Here's the back side of the boxes/mid-tack:
We plan to hand some sturdy hooks on the back of the box to hang our drover coats and horse blankets on, and we'll store horse feed & dog food behind the stud stall divider also. We CAN swing the stud stall divider open, but the dog boxes are in there REALLY tight so it's a pain to close, but it can be done. All alterations were done without modifying the actual trailer (other than the light in the stud stall), so if we decide to sell the trailer, we can easily put the trailer back to it's original configuration.
Anyway, we're pretty happy with the way they turned out.

Very Nice!

Thanks Sean! Now you see why I was drooling over the boxes you're selling, but we only had 35.5" to deal with...and need 6 dog boxes, and I can only imagine what custom fabricated aluminum ones would cost.

Thanks guys!
And Doc, every pup in the next litter is FOR SALE! We have 3 spoken for already.....none get to stay, and I swear I will NEVER keep 2 from the same litter again. Moment of complete insanity...which has lead to many more.

Wait you aren't putting me into that "insanity" decision category are you?
