GSP line traits
Just wondering people's opinions on the different GSP lines. Clown/Hustler/Slick/etc... What dogs were known for producing certain types of pups? Good pets vs Race horses...any other traits.

I got a clown/slickerfemale pup and she runs all the time. Two speeds either cuddly/sleeping or 100+mph. Everyone I talked to says usually something similar.

I have a slick bred pup with moon on the top, and she is a very very natural dog. Not a huge running dog yet but I am hoping she gets there.

Re: GSP line traits
I have a Prairie Wind pup that will be a year old in July. She is clean in the kennel. Easy to house train. She is friendly to a fault, very biddable, ran big at an early age but is smart enough to adjust, lots of pointing instinct and a very long nose and knows how to use it. One of the best GSP's I have ever had at this age. She has a flaw of two but mostly all good. She is not really interested in retrieving but that can be fixed.
She is basically line bred Radbach and Grief.

Re: GSP line traits
My first was out of Hustler lines and she was short and bulky. She could go all day at a decent pace and would run through anything. Great natual retriever. Tough dog and great pet. First dog-had to put down at 14, don't think I will ever have a "better" one.
My second has clown/dixieland/desert dutch lines and she is tall and skinny. She can go all out (very fast) for about half a day and then she gets tired. I think she would have made a great trial dog if she had a different owner. She has a better nose and pointing instinct, but not as much of a natural retriever. Very good inside family pet as well.
Just my personal experience.

My now first GSP has clown/dixieland and she is tall and skinny, she ran all out but never tired as she turned around 5yrs. she started to pace and last season at 9 can hunt 3 days with few breaks in between....great nose stylish on point, but not much of a natural retriever. And like yours good in the house as well. Mostly white in color which I like for the field.Allamakee1 wrote:My first was out of Hustler lines and she was short and bulky.
