The Eastern Sierra's Trip

Post by brad27 » Fri Dec 21, 2012 3:38 pm

Garrison and I went out to the eastern sierra's earlier in the week to do some hunting/scouting for birds. We found a few small coveys, but couldn't get the dogs on them before they went down the mountain. Had a great time despite the lack of birds. Dogs worked great all day. Only had a small scare when one of them decided it would be fun to chase deer. :x We got him back after a hour and a half. We are planning a second trip out there before season ends, check out new areas and hopefully find some birds. Here are some pics from the trip.

Let's see, beer, whiskey, good food, friends and running dogs. I'd have to be dead to NOT enjoy that.

Whereabouts was this at? Sure makes me homesick looking at those pictures. Ive been all over the country and the eastern sierras has some of the most beautiful scenery still to date. I grew up near ridgecrest and spent a good deal of time chasing quail and chuckar around those hills. Awsome pictures, im jealous.

We set up shop near Lone Pine and then drove all over creation to look for birds.

Dang it! I knew we were doing something wrong. it was actually a really nice trip. Nice to get way for a couple days. We did fairly well as far as birds are concerned considering we went up there blind. Neither if us had hunted up there and we didn't have anyone to point us in the right direction. Most of it was " that hill looks good, lets walk over there."
