Life gets teejus don't it

Poor fiddle lacerated a ligament on a supposed piece of glass today. A superficial ligament says the vet, and quite a small one, but it was severed in two nonetheless and though she sewed it back together, the odds are iffy on the repair. The vet says he shouldn't suffer from any agility in the future though. This has sure been a tough final training season for him, loosing pigeons and finally about to start work again next week and now he is down for a minimum of 14 days. I just hope the vet was right and the ligament he cut through doesn't hamper his field ability. I know he is hoping the same. Crossing fingers that we get to go out for the opening grouse season in just 6 weeks. Get well soon Mr. Bean! He's high as a kite right now, but was still ready to chase tennis balls right after the accident. Now he is not using that leg at all, but it could be the wrapper. Cut his foot right between the heel and the pad. All of life's other problems seem to have evaporated, thank God it wasn't worse.

Might be a good idea to get a Elizabethan collar so can't chew on that foot.

Dogs are very resilient creatures. I had to remove a lung on one and you couldnt see it now in how she runs......Recovery is the key. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about the accident, did the Vet mention the option of putting a splint on the injured leg so as to prevent
your dog from flexing his leg and thus placing strain on the sutured area? Not sure of the energy level of your fog or if he's on any sedative, but I would want to keep that leg immobilized so as to afford the affected area proper time to recover/mend.

One of my dogs went through a rear leg injury in the spring which required surgery. Immobilization of the affected area
is key to proper post op recovery..... especially when sutures into ligaments/tendons is involved. It may be worth looking
into.
