English Pointer breeder near West Frankfort, IL
I recall a gentleman that bred pointers near the West Frankfort, IL area. He had dogs bred from Herb and Bill Holmes' Gunsmoke dogs and Robert Wehle's Elhew dogs. I have lost the contact info for him that I had several years ago. I was hoping someone out there would be familiar with him, know if he was still breeeding, and have contact information. Thank you for your help.

What are you looking to do with the pointer if/when you purchase one?
- Strictly bird hunting
- Walking AF Trials
- Horseback AF Trials
- NSTRA
- Cover Dog AF Trials
- AKC Field Trials
A combination of some of the above? I could point you in a very good direction if I knew
what you intend to do with the dog.

He would be pet, personal gundog, NSTRA player, and possible breeding prospect.

Look no further than here:
http://www.erinkennels.com/
Sean Derrig produces some of the best Pointers in the country- let alone, your area.
Some advice for future reference, don't use the words "pet" & "breeding prospect" in the same sentence.
Sean will have dogs that don't run big enough for his purposes (horseback AA field trials),
but will be everything you'll ever want in a foot hunting companion/NSTRA competitor.

Re: English Pointer breeder near West Frankfort, IL
Thank you for the lead and the advice. Let me explain my statement. All my life, my dogs have been first and foremost pets and companions. I like having the option of breeding, however, to keep myself in the type of dogs I like. I have heard several good things about Erin's. Thanks again.
Re: English Pointer breeder near West Frankfort, IL
I understand completely what you meant- they are members of your family- as they are mine.
I just know that in breeder parlance the term "petted out" is used when speaking of a dog that
isn't going to be used for the intended purposes of the breeding (hunting, trialing, showing...... whatever the breeder
is breeding for). I just wouldn't want you to contact Sean and tell him you were looking for a "pet"......
wouldn't be the best way to start. But he has some amazing dogs with more heart than you could imagine
and they look like a million bucks on point and are personable.
You can get them to hunt within foot hunting range, so long as you start training them early and put your time in.
